This cabinet card portrait captures the great facial expressions of a loving father and his spunky daughter. Dad looks quite intense and protective of his adorable daughter. The daughter offers a priceless expression. She has amazing poise for a girl her age. The photographer brilliantly has the daughter holding her fathers hat. Great looking subjects and a terrific pose characterize this image by the Leiter studio in Hamilton, Ohio.

  1. I am struck by the resemblance to members of my Hammang Family in the Detroit Michigan area. The man could be a brother/cousin of my grandfather (“Pop”–1899-1988) and his father and grandfather, and various other cousins. At first I though it was just the walrus mustache that some of them also wore. But the little girl is the spitting image of my (also feisty) great aunt Myrtle, Pop’s sister, who unfortunately died of meningitis at age 17 or 18. I know of branches of the family in Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota, as well as southeast Michigan but none in Ohio. Please keep me posted if you are able to identify these people. Thanks.
