This cabinet card captures a pretty girl posing by a window in the studio of W. M. Wires, in Lynn, Massachusetts. The young woman has relatively short hair for the era, and she is dressed quite fashionably. The photograph was taken in 1882.

I love all the cabinet cards you have on your blog. They are quite interesting and are helping me notice details in the cabinet cards I have acquired.

I think her hair is not short, it is just cut in a fashionable fringe over her forehead.

Really a lovely ensemble. I love how she has her black lace fichu tucked into her bodice.

Also, her hair is not cut short, rather it is pulled back. If we could see the back or her head, she probably had a bun or other such style.
