FROMENTIN : PRETTY FRENCH PERFORMER : RISQUE : SAZERAC : PIPROT : PARIS : RPPC

This risque vintage real photo postcard features a fashionable performer named Fromentin.  The card is color tinted. She has a string of flowers wrapped around her shoulders and her dress is a flower pattern. The combination is a nice touch. “The Theatre” (1882) states that Fromentin, among others, present grace and beauty difficult to match. Fromentin was photographed by Sazerac. He was a photographer well known for his portraits of the showgirls of Paris. The publisher of this postcard, was Monsieur G. Piprot, of “Etoille” or “Star” publishing in Paris. The card is part of a series (No.854). The postcard has a postmark from 1905.  SOLD

These vintage real photo postcards feature Miss Aime, a Paris cabaret performer. She is pretty and has a wonderful smile. Preliminary research found no biographical information concerning this actress. The photographer of Postcard 1 is the Sazerac studio which was located at the “Hotel Prive” in Paris, France. Little information could be located about Mr. Sazerac; but one can easily find real photo postcard portraits of French show girls that were produced by his studio. In fact Britain’s National Portrait Gallery has one of Sazarac’s photographs (circa 1906) in it’s collection. Postcard 1 is part of a series (N. 829 Th. 93) and is in very good condition (see scans).                                                                                                                            Postcard 2 offers another view of Miss Aime. She is wearing a different dress, but once again, she is bedecked with flowers. Like postcard 1, this photo was taken by Sazerac. The two postcards are part of the same series. This postcard is numbered (N. 829 Th. 93).

ACTRESS ON A SWING IN PARIS, FRANCE (PORTRAIT BY SAZERAC)

This cabinet card portrait features an unknown actress in a provocative pose sitting on a swing. An exposed leg and lacy undergarments propel this photograph into risque territory. The curly haired young woman flashes a terrific smile at the camera. The photographer of this image is the Sazerac studio which was located at the “Hotel Prive” in Paris, France. No information could be located about Mr. Sazerac but one can easily find real photo postcard portraits of French show girls that were produced by his studio. Sazerac cabinet cards are less common.
