TINTYPE PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG GIRL PLUNKED DOWN ON A FAUX ROCK

This 1/6 plate tintype features an unhappy young girl. It is difficult to blame her for the sour mood. Her day was going ok until she found herself plunked down upon a faux rock housed in a scary photographer’s studio. Check out her cute striped socks? Note the dark wide belt around her dress. It could be part of her dress, but I think it is actually a safety strap holding the child in place and preventing falls. This tintype photograph measures about  2 1/4″ x 3 1/2″.   (SOLD)

TINTYPE IMAGE OF TWO INTENSE YOUNG MEN “GOING OVER THE BOOKS”

tintype 2 guys

tintype 2 guys 1 This tintype photograph features two very intense looking young men. One appears to be reading a book while the other gentleman listens intently. This photograph tells a story that we are not privy to, so we have an opportunity to make up our own. I think this image tells the tale of two young business partners. One of them is reviewing the “books” and the news is not good. Both men are upset about the financial state of their business. That’s my story and I am going to stick with it. What’s your story? Tintypes were popular in the 1860’s and 1870’s. This tintype image is in very good condition (see scans).   (SOLD)
