This antique postcard features a pretty young woman. The artist is Alice Luella Fidler (1883-?). The card is part of the American Girl series (no.36). In the early twentieth century, Alice and her two sisters, Pearle Eugenia Fidler LeMunyan (1880-?), and Elsie Catherine Fidler (1892-?); specialized in creating drawings of beautiful girls and women. In addition to “American Girl” they produced series entitled “Glamour Girl” and “College Lad and Lassie”. They were wonderful illustrators and most of their drawings were published as postcards. This postcard was published by Edward Gross. The publishing firm was located in New York. (SOLD)
PORTRAIT OF FRENCH WRESTLER OR BOXER : 1920’S
This vintage real photo postcard features a boxer, or possibly a wrestler, in a fighting pose. He is not wearing any boxing gloves which leads me to believe that he is more likely a wrestler. One thing is certain; I know that he is not a UFC fighter. The boxer is unidentified. The postcard is likely from France, since similar boxing postcards in my collection are from that nation. (SOLD)

A SOLDIER AND HIS FAMILY IN BREST, FRANCE
This vintage real photo postcard features a uniformed soldier and his family. He is wearing a pin with the number “253” on his collar. This likely indicates that he was in the 253rd regiment. Note the wrapping around the bottom of his pant legs. I wonder about the purpose of the wrap. The soldier’s wife looks almost out of the photo. She is stiff and and looks disconnected from her son and husband. The soldier’s son is wearing a navy style shirt. The soldier looks intense but proud. “Photo Pierre” is the name of the studio that produced this postcard. The photographer was located in Brest, France. SOLD

MEATY FLEURON : POSTCARD QUEEN : DANCE HALL STAR : PHOTO BY ORICELLY
This vintage real photo postcard features Meaty Fleuron, a dancehall artist from the Belle Epoque era. Meaty was a singer and a dancer. She was one of the “Postcard Queens” popular at the turn of the century. In other words, she was a prolific postcard model. She made her debut at the European Concert hall in 1895. She is noted for appearing in “swimsuit roles”. Her sister, Lise Fleuron was also a performer. This postcard was published by LF Co. which I believe, but am not certain, is Labouene Freres. Miss Fleuron was photographed by the Oricelly studio for this postcard. Oricelly was based in Paris, France. This postcard has corner wear and is in overall good condition (See Scans).

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of “Indian Pundits” in Trinidad. A pundit is “a man with specialized knowledge or a teacher of any field of knowledge in Hinduism”. Today, as we see on the major cable news networks, a pundit is an expert in any specific area of knowledge. It is interesting to note that Hinduism is the second largest religion in Trinidad and Tobago. This ethnographic postcard is part of a series (no.400). The photo on this postcard was taken in 1931 and the card itself dates back to the 1930’s. SOLD
