This carte de visite features a sweet toddler and his/her adorable dog. The child exhibits a hint of a smile while the dog appears to be displaying a wonderful smile. To say the least, the dog seems happy to be at the photographic studio to pose with his little master. The child is wearing the customary unisex gown that children that age wore during the cdv era. This photograph was taken at the studio of Pierre Buretier in Seraing, Belgium. SOLD
I originally wrote this post in 2016, but dusting it off and reblogging it, seems appropriate for New Years Eve (2024). This vintage real photo postcard features what may be some photographer’s fantasy. Nothing beats having a bottle of champagne and a pretty young lady chilling on ice. I doubt that many men have actually ever had such a thought. If I was a psychologist, which in fact I am, I might be thinking that the bottle of champagne is a perfect example of a phallic symbol. I wonder if the photographer realized he had created a subliminal sexually charged image when he took this photograph. I’m not sure how to interpret the spider web in the background. If you haven’t noticed, this postcard is celebrating a New Year. The reverse of the card shows a postmark from Brussels, Belgium and indicates the date was December 31st, between 1918 and 1919. The stamp on the postcard is also from Belgium. This postcard will be listed for sale at a later date.

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a Belgian soldier sitting in his parent’s garden. He appears to be writing a letter. A framed cabinet card photograph is atop the table in front of him. The photograph captures a family portrait and individual photographs of members of the soldier’s family. It is likely that the pictured individuals are the soldier, his wife, and their two children. The soldier is identified on the reverse of the card as Paul Coppenyns. The photograph is from circa, the 1910’s. (SOLD)

The photographers name and address is hand stamped on the reverse of this photograph. This vintage real photo postcard features a couple delivering milk transported by a dog cart. The wagon is being pulled by three large dogs. The caption printed on the card, “Laitiere Flamande”, is translated as “Flemish Milk Maid”. The woman on the cart is wearing traditional Flemish clothing. This divided back postcard dates back to around 1907 to 1915. Note the light crease in the upper right hand corner of the card. Overall, this vintage postcard is in good condition.

This vintage 1930’s photo postcard features three contestants in the Miss Europe contest. Most of the women in the competition had won national beauty contests in their own country and progressed to the Miss Europe contest as a warm-up to competing for the Miss World title. This photographic postcard presents Miss France, Miss Belgium, and Miss Italy. The three contestants are beautiful and marvelously dressed. This postcard was published by Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. He was very talented and well respected. This vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans). SOLD
