    It is rather gawky, isn’t it? I”m impressed at your discerning eye!

    I wonder what type of feather that is. Egret feathers seem to have been very popular for this style hat, and they are MUCH more delicate than these.

    These feathers look more like what one sees on large raptors such as owls or eagles. See the card under “Actresses” in this site for a woman wearing an elaborate hat with egret feathers (the fine, upright ones) and what are probably ostrich feathers (the full, curly, droopy ones).

    Or perhaps these are feathers from a bird such as a crow or raven.
