Wow! The lace on the collar is crocheted, I’m fairly certain, which leaves me curious about the lace of the skirt. The pattern doesn’t seem to be a common crochet design – I’d go crazy making so many tiny little motifs.
I love being able to examine antique needlework at this level of detail – thanks for the post! And please, don’t mind us mildly (or more) obsessive needleworkers – we’re usually harmless.
I believe the child’s mother is under that fringed throw! Look carefully, and you’ll see her head bent down on the left and the outline of her arm holding the child.
