HANDSOME MAN IN MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Meet Walter Burnham, who is posing for his portrait at the studio of Langley, in Manchester, New Hampshire. The studio was located at  780 Elm Street. Burnham has movie star looks and an interesting mustache which curls upward at each end.  The mustache earns him a place in the Cabinet Card Gallery category of  “Mustaches (Only the Best)”. Click on the category for other interesting or unusual mustaches.

This may be Walter H. Burnham of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, about 10 miles NW of Manchester. In the 1900 U.S. Census, Burnham and his wife Emma L. (ages 37 and 40 respectively) have been married 14 years and have an 8-year-old son, Harold.

Burnham worked as a farmer on his own, mortgaged land.

Sadly, the Moustache Schedules for the 1900 U.S. Census were lost in a warehouse fire in 1948.

Langley the photographer was Josiah True Langley (1856-1916). He was the grandfather of my late wife, Shirley Harris Crockett, who was daughter of Florence Langley Harris, who was daughter of Josiah True Langley.
