THE CABINET CARD GALLERY 
The child is most likely holding two rattles, one in each hand. Based on what little can be seen of the handle style, they were probably made in East Hampton, Connecticut, by N. N. Hill Brass, Gong Bell, or Watrous Mfg. Co.
