OLD MAN AND HIS DOG IN LUVERNE, MINNESOTA

An old man and his dog pose for their portrait at the studio of O. S. Myhre in Luverne, Wisconsin. The gentleman has “dressed up” for his portrait. Interestingly, the subject is sitting on what appears to be an uncomfortable stool while the dog (labrador retriever?) gets to lie down on the more comfortable wicker chair.

Does anyone have any other info on this photo or where it came from? My great-great grandfather’s brother Ole S. Myhre opened the Myhre Studio in Luverne, MN in 1892. I have two other photos of family that were taken in the studio. I am searching for other pictures that are labled O S Myhre, Luverne, MN.

I have an old photo from the studio. I believe its from the 1930s.

James, my ancestors are also Myhres. Your O. S. Myhre’s father came from Vang, Oppland. Mine came from a different Myhre farm in Biri, Oppland, 60 miles due east. Did you know your surname simply means swamp land? I’d love to correspond and even help with your family research. Steve.

I’d love to know the story behind this old guy and his pooch.

Just from the way the dog is lying there and being still long enough to have its photo taken, it must have been quite old.

I just LOVE this picture… as a dog lover I would love to think I am related to this “old man”. Would be so neat to know the story…
