This vintage photograph features a mother and her son. The pair are dressed for winter. This image exudes a lot of emotion. It is easy to sense the bond between the boy and his mother. My impression is that the photograph captures the boy comforting his mother., rather than the other way around. Each has an arm around the other, but mom looks to be in a passive role. The photograph was found in Moscow, Russia. An inscription on the reverse of the photo appears to indicate that it was taken in 1954. This photograph measures about 3 1/2 ” x 2 1/4″. SOLD

I looked up what was happening in Russia in 1954 and Wikipedia mentioned the Kengir uprising. Perhaps the husband was involved in that.
Interesting possibility. I had never heard of the Kengir uprising so I researched it and learned it was a significant prison uprising that took place in a Soviet labor camp for political prisoners. Thanks for sharing your theory and for teaching me something that I did not know.

I looked up Kyrgyzstan, thinking maybe it isn’t there anymore, or named something else, but found lots of links w/ photos.
Thanks for the heads up. I never knew that Kyrgyzstan was even a country,In fact, I now realize how little I know about Central Asia. I have some studying of world geography to do. One more thing to add to my “to do” list.
