PORTRAIT OF A PRETTY TEENAGE GIRL IN BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

This vintage real postcard features an attractive young woman. She appears to be in her teenage years. Her photograph was taken by Florencio Bixio and he operated a studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Bixio specialized in studio portraits, wedding portraits, and photos of entertainers. He also was a correspondent for the magazine “Caras and Caretas”, as well as a producer of photo postcards. Between 1900 and 1930 he opened photography studios in partnership with two other photographers. These studios were called “Bixio and Merlino” and Bixio and Castiglioni”. He was of Italian descent and emigrated to Argentina in 1896. He died in Buenos Aires in 1933. The message on this postcard indicates that it was written in 1922. SOLD

PORTRAIT OF AN ADORABLE BROTHER AND SISTER DUO: MEET CELIA AND MANUEL AGENOR

An adorable little boy and his sister pose for this vintage real photo postcard portrait at an unidentified studio. The photograph appears to have been taken outside but I have my doubts. I am pretty certain that I see a backdrop in the background. This image, based on some of it’s companion postcards, is likely from Argentina. The children in this photograph are intensely staring at the photographer. A message on the reverse of the card provides a bit of information about the children. The note is written in Spanish and states the the girl’s name was Celia Agenor and she was six years of age at the time the photo was taken. The boy’s name is either Baron Manuel Agenor or just Manuel Agenor. The Artura stamp box reveals that the postcard is from sometime between 1908 and 1924. This vintage postcard is in good condition (see scans).

PORTRAIT OF AN ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL HUGGING HER DOLL (AIN’T SHE SWEET)

This vintage photograph is sweet. The photo features a young girl hugging her doll. The child has beautiful eyes and a wonderful smile. She looks so sweet. Interestingly, both she and her doll have bangs that look very much alike. The girl is wearing a pretty sweater. This color photograph is a former resident of a photo album. It is evident that the image was once held in place in an album by photo corners. This photograph found it’s way to me from Argentina. The photo measures about 3.5″ x 7.5″ and is in very good condition (see scans).

WELL DRESSED MIDDLE AGED COUPLE IN BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

BUENOS AIRES_0007

This well dressed couple is posed for photographer S.  at his studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His studio was named “El Mirador”, the Spanish word for “the View Point”. The couple’s clothing suggests that they are people of means. The gentleman is wearing a three piece suit and a pocket watch. The woman is wearing a dark dress and is accessorized with a pair of earrings and a ring. This couple appears quite formal. Although they are posed as a couple, body language seems to shout that they are in different worlds. Pozzuoli did an excellent job of positioning his subjects and placing props. The end result is an attractive portrait of an Argentinian husband and wife.

A BOY AND HIS PEDAL CAR IN CORONEL SUAREZ, ARGENTINA

BOY AND TOY CAE_0014Photographer Arturo Stinco took this wonderful portrait of a young boy and his pedal car. The boy has long hair and  is wearing a large bow. Judging by his clothing and his expensive toy car, he is likely from a very well-to-do family. The boy’s name is written on the reverse of the photograph. His name is Carlos Aguerra (possibly Aguerro). The photographer’s studio was located in the Argentinian town of Coronel Suarez. This town was founded in 1883 and is in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina. It was named after Manuel Isidoro Suarez (1799-1841) who was an Argentinian army colonel who fought in wars of independence against the Spanish.
