TWO CUTE YOUNG SISTERS IN SOFIA, BULGARIA

This cabinet card features two young girls posing for their portrait at a photographer’s studio. The girls are most probably sisters, and they are very cute. Note their large dark expressive eyes. The older girl is wearing a necklace with a locket or charm, while her little sister is wearing a necklace with a cross and holding a toy that could be a spinning top. The youngest child also has a strap over her shoulder which appears to be a bag of some kind. A previous owner of this cabinet card states that the photograph was produced by a studio in Sofia, Bulgaria. The name of the photographer is difficult to decipher and hopefully a Bulgaria savvy visitor to the Cabinet Card Gallery, will be able to provide the name of the producer of this image.

WOUNDED BULGARIAN MILITARY OFFICER

This photograph is a portrait of a wounded non commissioned Bulgarian military officer. The preceding description of this gentleman is not confirmed information. It is also unknown, due to translation limitations, what the name of the photographer is and in what country and city the studio was located in. Hopefully, someone from cabinet card gallery’s vast unpaid research department , will leave a comment providing additional information about the subject of this photograph.

FATHER AND TWO SONS IN PHILIPPOPOLI (PLOVDIV), BULGARIA

foreigners

This Cabinet card image is of a father and his two sons posing at the studio of Cavra in Philippopoli (Plovdiv), Bulgaria. Notice the clothing worn by the three members of this family. The father is dressed in the clothing of a peasant while the two sons are wearing more fashionable attire. Note the cane, the umbrella and the two hats in the image. The city of Plovdiv is in south central bulgaria on the Maritsa River. It is presently the second largest city in Bulgaria. The city was in the possession of the Turks who passed it to Russia in 1877. It became the capitol of Eastern Rumelia (1878-1885) which united with Bulgaria in 1885.
