YOUNG GIRL WITH A FAR OFF STARE SOMEWHERE IN EUROPE

A young girl with a “far away” expression is captured in this cabinet card portrait. She is wearing a white gown and her appearance can be described as “haunting”. The previous owner of this photograph asserts that it is of Bulgarian origin and was from a studio in Sofia. The reverse of the image has a printed medal dated 1892 which informs the viewer that the photograph was taken after that date. Assistance from cabinet card gallery visitors would be appreciated in determining the country where this picture originated.

AN ADORABLE BABY AND A PERAMBULATOR IN SOFIA, BULGARIA

An adorable baby peers out of a comfortable looking perambulator at the studio of photographer, Dimitr Karastoyanow, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Note the baby’s wonderful hat. A written inscription on the reverse of the photograph reveals that the image was produced in 1912. To view other turn of the century perambulators, click on Cabinet Card Gallery’s category “Baby Carriage”.

TWO CUTE YOUNG SISTERS IN SOFIA, BULGARIA

This cabinet card features two young girls posing for their portrait at a photographer’s studio. The girls are most probably sisters, and they are very cute. Note their large dark expressive eyes. The older girl is wearing a necklace with a locket or charm, while her little sister is wearing a necklace with a cross and holding a toy that could be a spinning top. The youngest child also has a strap over her shoulder which appears to be a bag of some kind. A previous owner of this cabinet card states that the photograph was produced by a studio in Sofia, Bulgaria. The name of the photographer is difficult to decipher and hopefully a Bulgaria savvy visitor to the Cabinet Card Gallery, will be able to provide the name of the producer of this image.
