GROUP OF RAILROAD WORKERS : ANTIQUE TOOLS : WORK CLOTHING : TRAINS : DEPOT : RPPC

This vintage occupational real photo postcard features a group of railroad workers wearing their work clothes. Note that three of the men are holding antique tools. The fellow standing on the right is holding a giant wrench. Next to that same gentleman is a large rack holding railroad construction equipment. Behind the men is a small depot building. The AZO stamp box indicates that this postcard was published between 1904 and 1918. This postcard has excellent clarity and is in good condition (see scans). This occupational railroad postcard is likely one-of-a-kind.  SOLD

TWO AFFECTIONATE MEN IN WESTERN UNION UNIFORMS (SWEET IMAGE)

This vintage real photo postcard is special on a number of accounts. First, the photographer did an amazing job of capturing the affection between the two men in the photograph. Second, this is an excellent occupational photo. Both men are wearing Western Union uniforms. Their hats have the emblem of the Western Union company and the initials “WU” appear on the upper sleeve of the uniform. Note the pen in the seated gentleman’s pocket as well as the pants band below the knee of the standing man.  The probable purpose of the band is to keep one’s pants leg in place so that they do not get entangled in the spokes of bicycles that are used for delivering messages. A third factor making this card special is that it was produced in a photographers studio; and not mass produced. Finally, the photographer of this image was very talented, and produced an overall wonderful photograph. Sorry for the editorializing. I don’t usually gush about the postcards that I sell.  SOLD

CONSTRUCTION WORKERS : WOOD SCAFFOLDING : OCCUPATIONAL: VINTAGE RPPC

This vintage real photo occupational postcard features a portrait of more than two dozen construction workers. Many of the men are standing on wooden scaffolding in front of the building. There are no hardhats seen in this industrious group. Their job is not the safest way to earn a living. The image itself is relatively crisp and clear. This postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

FIVE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS : ANTIQUE TOOLS : DIRTY FACES : LAYING PIPE : 1911

This vintage occupational real photo postcard features five construction workers (laborers) posing in their work clothing. Note that two of the men are holding tools and that all but one of the men are wearing work gloves. A couple of the men have dirty faces from their labor. The men are posed in front of, what appears to be, a large pipe. Is the pipe the focus of their work? This card was postmarked in 1911. The postcard was sent to Chicago from El Paso, Texas. The card was produced by a private studio and is nearly certain to be “one of a kind”. This antique postcard is 111 years old. SOLD

SIX WORKING MEN : OCCUPATIONAL : VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH

This vintage photograph features a group of six men. This appears to be an occupational photo. The men in the group are dressed to perform certain functions. The man wearing the suit and hat may be the owner or manager of the business. One man is wearing overalls. Does he do physical labor? Two of the men are wearing identical vests. One of them is holding a pad. Are they salesmen? Finally, the two men on the very right of the image are wearing strictly slacks and a sport shirt. The six fellows in this image certainaly appear to be “men at work”. This trimmed vintage photo measures about 4.75 x 3.25 inches and is in good condition (see scans).

FRAMER : PUSHING CART OF MATERIAL AND TOOLS : HAVANA, CUBA : PRESS PHOTO (1988)

This vintage press photo features an older Cuban worker pushing his work cart down the street in Havana, Cuba. The cart seems to contain tools and materials. A translation site could only tell me that the man worked with frames in homes. I am hypothesizing that he is a framer. A stamp on the photo’s reverse indicates that the photograph was taken in 1988 and belonged to “Bohemia Fotografia”. It is likely that this image was used by “Revista Bohemia”; Cuba’s oldest general consumer magazine. This photograph measures about 4 3/4″ x 7 1/8″ and is in excellent condition.

READY TO WORK IN EGHAM, ENGLAND (OCCUPATIONAL RPPC)

OCCUPATIONALOCCUPATIONAL 1 This vintage real photo postcard is quite unique. The photograph features a gentleman wearing a long apron. He is obviously dressed for work but for what kind of work? Is he a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker? Perhaps he is a physician or possibly a photographer? He is dressed well, wearing a nice vest and neck tie. He looks quite intense as he poses for his portrait at the E Worsely-Benison studio in Egham, England.  (SOLD)
