  1. This is a portrait of actress Belle Archer, who made a great hit on tour in Hoyt’s musical comedy, “A Contented Woman.” I’ve seen several portraits of her, and there is no doubt. I am a retired theater professor and theater historian. Belle Archer will appear in a book I am writing about the professional touring theater in the Arizona Territory.

  2. Belle Archer born Arabella Minlgle 05.09.1858, after a fall at a railway station on 17th September she died two days later on 19.09.1900 aged 42yrs.

    Information from England

    • The unidentified actress is definitely Belle Archer. See the portraits of her in the NYPL Digital Collections. Tom Collins
