I also would have a tough time smiling if my parents made me dress in a get-up like that. (Just being silly!)
Still, I grew up in Pennsylvania and I would dare any child to walk through any neighborhood in Pittsburgh looking like that and not be scarred for life. – The other kids would be so cruel, and she’s lucky she is carrying a parasol for protection because PA kids are famous for throwing rocks, mud-pies, or even “ice balls” if it’s wintertime.
Again, the above is my idea of an attempt to be silly.
are you sure this is not a death photo? i know children were generally not photographed and alot of times they did for their death but they would make them appear to be alive even standing, thats why their faces look so grim. just thought id offer that suggestion for this picture, i maybe wrong.
