She is a slight woman who looks as if she has just seen a ghost. The couples two daughters are adorable. The photographer is Gericke whose studio was located in Berlin, Germany. The reverse of the card has an inscription indicating that the photograph was taken in 1912.

FATHER AND DAUGHTER PORTRAIT IN COLUMBUS, OHIO
This cabinet card captures a fabulous image of a father and daughter. The photographer is Urlin, of the Monmouth Art Gallery, in Columbus, Ohio. Both father and daughter look co0l and relaxed as they pose for the camera. They are nicely dressed and are wearing broad brimmed hats. The young girl is wearing a ring and a brooch and the father has a pocket watch. The cabinet card itself is of deluxe design. The card is deeply embossed and padded to give it a 3D appearance. The name of the photographer has a gold gild background. The reverse of the cabinet card has an inscription stating, “Will and Alice Crew, McConnelsville, Ohio”. Perhaps father and daughter were visiting Columbus from their home in McConnelsville; when they decided to sit for their portrait. The photographer is George C. Urlin. He was born in Canada and was an active photographer from 1875 or earlier until 1887. During 1888 and 1889 he worked in Cleveland, Ohio. He resumed his photography career in Columbus in 1889. Perhaps the photograph includes a young adult woman, her mother, and her grandparents. Note the women’s dresses; they are quite varied and pretty.
MAN WEARING A STAR POSES WITH HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER IN PIONEER, OHIO
This Cabinet Card appears to feature a father, mother and teenage daughter. Mom is holding a book on her lap and dad is wearing a star on his vest. Is the gentleman a lawman? The badge seems a bit small to be a sheriffs badge. Perhaps a visitor to this site will have a hypothesis or some knowledge about the star. The photographer is Henry E. Buck (1867-?) and his studio was in Pioneer, Ohio. Buck was born in Putnam County, Ohio and worked as a photographer in Pioneer, Ohio in 1891 but by 1896 had settled in McComb, Ohio.
PHOTOGRAPHER’S DAUGHTER MAKES GOOD: FAMILY PORTRAIT ENTERS THE CABINET CARD GALLERY
This cabinet card appears to be a family portrait, judging by the similar appearance of many of the subjects in the photograph. This is one very serious and intense family. Were these young men and woman told by the photographer to look dejected and severe? The photographer of this cabinet card has some interesting biographical facts. George Shadrach Lofft took this photograph in his studio in Lapeer, Michigan. In addition to his profession of photography, Lofft was an illustrator who loved to draw pastel and crayon portraits. He had six children and could not support his family as a photographer. In 1902 he moved his family to Philadelphia where he worked for a Dry Plate company. He died in 1937. One of his daughters found great success in the world of literature. Marguerite de Angeli (1889-1987) was a best selling and award winning author and illustrator of children’s books.

This cabinet card photograph is a studio photograph of a young family posing as if they are sitting in an outside garden. The man has some impressive mutton chops that seem to be distracting his wife. The photographer is Smith whose studio was in Detroit, Michigan.
FAMILY WITH GREAT WORK ETHIC IN RUSH CITY, MINNESOTA
A group of men and boys pose for their portrait at the photographic studio of R. Tynelius of Rush City, Minnesota. This photograph stimulates a lot of interesting questions. Is this a family or some other type of unit? What are the tools that the men are holding? What is the occupation of these photographic subjects? Are they farmers? All of the subjects in this image are wearing a hat which suggests that their occupation requires working outside. The photographer, R. Tynelius is mentioned in a publication called “The St. Louis and Canadian Photographer” (1900). It was reported that he was succeeding Mr E. J. Almquist in running a photography studio.
