This carte de visite portrait features Civil War Union Cavalry Major General, Hugh Judson Kilpatrick (1836-1881). He was a 1861 graduate of West Point and quickly rose in the ranks as the war progressed. As a General, he was considered to be reckless with the lives of his soldiers. He developed a disparaging nickname of “Kilcavalry” or “Kill-Cavalry” for his disregard of the lives of his men. After the war, he became the United States Minister to Chile. This cdv is on thinner than usual card stock. The photo has a bumped top right hand corner and is in overall fair condition. SOLD
This vintage real photo postcard features a uniformed soldier and his family. He is wearing a pin with the number “253” on his collar. This likely indicates that he was in the 253rd regiment. Note the wrapping around the bottom of his pant legs. I wonder about the purpose of the wrap. The soldier’s wife looks almost out of the photo. She is stiff and and looks disconnected from her son and husband. The soldier’s son is wearing a navy style shirt. The soldier looks intense but proud. “Photo Pierre” is the name of the studio that produced this postcard. The photographer was located in Brest, France. SOLD

The photo was taken by photographer, Gebr. Strauss at his studio in Munich, Germany. Strauss also had studios in Vienna (Austria), Brunn (Czechoslovakia), and Budapest (Hungary). SOLD
This vintage real photo postcard features a uniformed Austro-Hungarian army soldier posing with his young child. I believe the soldier holds the rank of Corporal in the military. This photo was taken in 1917; during World War I. One can’t help but wonder what the impact of the war was on both father and child. This vintage real photo postcard features a young groom and bride. The groom is dressed in an army uniform of the World War I era while his bride is wearing a traditional wedding gown. She is holding an immense bouquet of flowers. The groom is displaying a bit of a smirk as he looks at the photographer. The AZO stamp box on the reverse of the postcard indicates that it was produced sometime between 1910 and 1930. SOLD
This vintage photograph features a group of sailors haveing Christmas dinner aboard the USS Cebu during the early to mid 1940’s. It is likely that this Navy photograph was taken during World War II. The sailors are certainly crowded together as they enjoy their holiday meal. Note the decorated Xmas tree in the background. The Cebu served as an engine repair ship. It was launched in 1943 and named after one of the islands that make up the Phiippines. While based in the Admiralty Islands, she repaired small and large ships to prepare them for the Invasion of the Philippines. Later in the war, the Cebu was used to repair ships that were victims of Kamikaze attacks. This snapshot photograph measures 5″ x 4″. (SOLD)

This patriotic postcard celebrates the alliance betweens the United States and France. The card features a photo of President Woodrow Wilson, the statue of liberty, and the American and French flags. The French words printed on the card are translated as “Victory for Right and Freedom”. The postcard was published in Paris by Dix as part of a series (no. 1376). SOLD
