This vintage real photo postcard features a darling little girl laying in bed with a number of her toys. Note the teddy bear, stuffed animals (including an elephant), and the toy clown (pierrot). The card was published by Rotophot (RPH) and is part of a series (no.2605/6). SOLD
This vintage scalloped edge real photo postcard a father and son. The young boy is holding on to his toy scooter. The child doesn’t look pleased about having his photo taken while his father looks deep in thought. This photograph was taken at the studio of G. Berteloit in Antoing, Belgium. (SOLD)
This original cabinet card photograph features a boy wearing his cricket uniform and holding a bat. This young athlete is identified on the reverse of the photo as Edwin English. He was photographed by N. Bogart of Toronto, Canada. Most Americans know very little about cricket. Cricket is a “bat and ball” team sport originating in England and played in over 100 countries around the world. Cricket can be traced back to Tudor times in the 16th century. In regard to this photograph, it is interesting to note that the tradition of photographing children in their sport uniforms continues today. Many parents of children participating in sports buy individual and team photographs of their children. Some things don’t change. (SOLD)
This vintage photograph features a young girl riding on a toy airplane. The plane is actually a biplane. It looks very realistic. Note the decals on the wings. There are words painted on the fuselage. My guess is that they say “Paris – Rome”. The reverse of this photograph has an inscription in French. The notation indicates that the girl’s name is Raymonde and that the photograph was taken in 1930. Since I could only partially translate the inscription, it is possible that 1930 may actually be the date that the girl was born. This vintage photo measures about 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ and is in very good condition (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard makes me smile. The card pictures two happy children posing for their portrait while holding some fun toys. These kids are ready to play. The younger child is holding a hoop toy while the older child has a ball and racquet. This photograph was taken by a photographer that may be familiar to regular Cabinet Card Gallery visitors. The gallery has a number of photos from the studio of Florencio Bixio. This talented photographer operated a studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Bixio specialized in studio portraits, wedding portraits, and photos of entertainers. He also was a correspondent for the magazine “Caras and Caretas”, as well as a producer of photo postcards. Between 1900 and 1930 he opened photography studios in partnership with two other photographers. These studios were called “Bixio and Merlino” and Bixio and Castiglioni”. He was of Italian descent and emigrated to Argentina in 1896. He died in Buenos Aires in 1933. This real photo postcard has excellent clarity and is in very good condition (see scans).

This photograph of a young child is from the studio of Professor David Ehrlich of New York City. The child is beautifully dressed and is holding a toy in his left hand and standing beside a chair with a toy ball on the seat. A sketch of Prof. Ehrlich and a sketch of his studio can be found on the reverse of the photograph (see scan below). The author of the blog, “Cabinet Card Photographers”, has researched Professor Ehrlich. It was found that Mr. Ehrlich had a photo studio at 160 East 66th Street between 1892 and 1902. In 1902, he appears to have moved his studio to 157 East 75th Street. He made a number of moves after that. He is last listed as a photographer in a 1913 business directory. He then switched professions and became a music teacher. The Professor must have possessed a strong drive to teach. While a photographer, he gave photography lessons to the public. It seems that he truly earned the title of “Professor”. This cabinet card portrait is in very good condition.

This carte de visite portrait features a well dressed small boy holding a stick and posing with his toy horse. A closer look at the photograph reveals that the child is holding a pull string which could use to pull the toy horse from place to place. His photos immortalized many actors and actresses. He also did portraits of Benito Mussolini. The stamp box on this postcard indicates that it was published by K Ltd. sometime between 1918 and 1936.
