The photograph was taken at Lachman’s Studio in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. A photographic journal (1894) cites a studio called Isaac S. Lachman & Son located in Pottstown. Anthony’s Photographic Bulletin (1901) reports the “recent death” of Isaac Lachman.
TWO PLUMBERS IN SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA
This cabinet card features two workmen, photographed by Washer, of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Both men are holding adjustable wrenches. The men may be plumbers or some other type of tradesmen. One man is wearing work clothing while the second man is wearing a neck tie. One could humorously posit that the man with the tie must be management. The photographer is likely Edward Washer, a Scranton photographer mentioned in photography journals of 1911 and 1914.

This cabinet card is a portrait of a little boy sitting quite comfortably in a sea shell chair. He appears disinterested in his surroundings at the Lies’s Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He looks cute in his polka dot bow tie and fancy clothing. The seashell chair prop in this photograph is very unusual; in fact, such a chair has not come to the attention of the Cabinet Card Gallery ever before. The photographer, George Lies, deserves credit for his creativity.

YOUNG GIRL WITH INTERESTING BRAIDS IN MEADVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA
This Cabinet Card is a photograph of an intense looking young girl with interesting tube like braids. The photographer is A. R. Fowler of Meadville, Pennsylvania. Meadville is in northwest Pennsylvania. A historic event occurred in Meadville when a Black man tried to register his kids into public school and was turned away. He appealed the decision and the court declared the segregation law of 1854 unconstitutional and outlawed segregation in Pennsylvania in 1881.
