PORTRAIT OF A LOVELY YOUNG COUPLE IN NEW YORK CITY

bostwick

Photographer James Alba Bostwick of New York City photographed this cabinet card portrait of a well dressed couple. The gentleman looks quite austere in his long coat and derby hat. The young woman has a very engaging expression. She is wearing an interesting hat, fur trimmed collar and sleeve cuffs, as well as gloves. Note the ruffle bottom of her skirt. She definitely has earned the title of “fashionista”. To view other photographs by this photographer and to learn more about him, click on the category “Photographer: Bostwick”.   (SOLD)bostwick 2

  1. I am enjoying viewing your cabinet cards and reading your insightful comments. Do you have any cabinet cards (or cdvs) in your collection from Petaluma California? If so, would you be willing to share scans of them with the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum. The Collections Manager is gathering images for our archives.

    Sincerely,

Paula Freund Petaluma Historical Library & Museum

    • Thanks for your comment. At present, I am not exhibiting any photographs from Petaluma in the Cabinet Card Gallery. I have many more cabinet cards to post in the gallery and perhaps one or more are from Petaluma. Unfortunately, I can not go through the photographs at this time but I will be on the lookout for any photographs I may have from your town. If you put the word Petaluma in this sites search box you will find a photograph by a photographer that was once located in Petaluma. The photographer’s name is Hugh S. Anderson and he operated a studio there in 1875. You will see additional biographical information about Anderson when you complete the search. I will get back to you if I find any Petaluma images.
