  2. A beauty for sure. I wonder (pure speculation) if she could be a widow. She has sadness in her gaze (again, my opinion). Her dress is heavy and dark (perhaps black?) and she is alone in the photo despite looking like a ‘good catch’. The locket is very prominent and it would be easy to image it to be a keepsake of a lost husband. It would be very interesting to get the opinion of an expert in 19th century fashion on this! Very nice, thanks for posting it.

  4. Just noticed … that ‘locket’ seems to have a stem. Could be a watch?
