This vintage real photo postcard features three African American brothers posing for a studio portrait. The children are adorable. All three children are displaying a serious expression. The stamp box on the reverse of the postcard lists “Artura” as the producer of the postcard paper. “Artura”paper was utilized by postcard publishers between 1908 and 1924.
This interesting vintage real photo postcard features two women at the beach. Hopefully its not too hot, because if so, these ladies are shvitzing. The wicker seats placed on this beach also serve as shelters. Beach umbrellas must have been popular sometime after this photograph was taken. Note the gentleman in the background of this photograph. He is wearing a white shirt, white apron, and white cap. He is likely a cook or a waiter attending to the culinary needs of the beachgoers. Printed on the reverse of the postcard is the word “briefkaart” which is the Dutch word for “postcard”. Therefore this portrait was likely taken somewhere in the Netherlands. SOLD
This cabinet card portrait features a young girl with light colored hair. She has two bows in her hair and is wearing a brooch near her collar. She is displaying a serious expression. The photographer of this cabinet card is Charles F Little (1860-?). He operated a studio in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Research reveals that he was a photographer is the Boston area at least between 1890 and 1936. He married his wife, Louisa, in 1889. (SOLD)
This oval image features a very pretty well dressed young woman. She is wearing a necklace and a locket pinned to her dress. The woman’s hair is up and topped with a bow. The photograph measures 4″ x 6″. The identity of the photographer and the subject are unknown. SOLD
This cabinet card portrait captures four siblings posing for their photograph. There are several things of note in this image. First, the little boy is wearing a plaid double breasted suit as well as a bow tie and pocket chief. The boy’s pants are knicker style. The baby in this photograph is sitting in a baby carriage and appears quite attentive. The two oldest children have a hand on the carriage, keeping it securely in place. The photographer of this image is W. Slocum, who operated a studio in East Jordan, Michigan. Printing below the image indicates that this photograph was taken in 1893. SOLD
This vintage photograph features five uniformed police officers posing for their portrait in Somersworth, New Hampshire. These lawmen appear very serious judging by their expressions. Mustaches must have been in vogue considering that only one of the five men is without one. The photographer of this image was Burton Etter. He was born in 1863 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1881. He married Helen M Mason in 1892. It was his second marriage. His first marriage (1885-1891) ended in divorce. In an 1886 business directory he is listed as an employee in a boot factory. At least by 1892 he was working as a photographer in Dover, New Hampshire. His name appears in Dover directories as a proprietor of a photography studio through 1909. After that time, he moved to San Francisco where he worked as a photographer at least until 1930. He was still alive at the time of the 1940 US census. Photographer guides indicate that Etter had other studios besides the ones in Dover and Somersworth. This is a terrific occupational/police photograph. (SOLD)

A costumed Vilma Von Mayburg poses for her portrait in the top vintage real photo postcard. The beautiful German stage and silent film actress is known for “Die Erbin des Grafen von Monte Christo (1919)”, Der siebente kub (1918)”, and “Menschen in Ketten (1919)”. Her film career began in 1916. This postcard was published by “EPA” which is the Albert Phototype Establishment. The company was located in Algers, Algeria. The second photo postcard shows a standing Miss Mayburg. She is quite pretty and well dressed. She is adorned with flowers and holding a fan. After I purchased this photograph, I had a nice surprise. I realized that the photograph was taken by one of my favorite photographers, Emilie Bieber. She was quite successful and quite talented. Bieber had two studios in Germany; Berlin and Hamburg. The Hamburg studio operated from 1852 through 1872 when she was joined by her nephew, Leonard Berlin-Bieber, Emilie Bieber died in 1884. .

This cabinet card portrait features a well-dressed pretty young woman sitting on the floor behind her baby. It is not clear whether this photograph is a post-mortem image. The mother seems to be half smiling and the baby appears awake. In addition, the photograph appears to have been taken at a studio and not at the woman’s residence. Therefore, it is my opinion that this is not a post-mortem image. This cabinet card was produced by the Lemkie studio in Berlin, Germany. SOLD
This cabinet card portrait features three men wearing western style fancy clothing. Note their brimmed hats. One wonders if it was a special occasion that brought these three well dressed men to a photography studio. This image was produced at the Teilborg studio in Wausa, Nebraska. The town’s name “Wausa” begs for an investigation regarding the name’s origin. The town was started in 1882 and was originally named Thorson. A number of Swedish immigrants settled there and in 1885, the town’s name was changed to “Vasa” in honor of the Swedish king (Gustaf Vasa). When the railroad arrived in 1890, the town’s name was changed once again. The town became known as “Wausa”, a combination of the King’s name and the letters “U.S.A”. Preliminary research found no information about this image’s photographer (Teilborg). (SOLD)
