  1. By their nature (no negative) tintypes are reversed, left to right. Dilemma (or Dilemna, as I was taught)! Whenever I made a copy of a tintype I corrected that … can’t help it. But! … one reason, adding to the popularity of tintypes, was that people saw themselves as they actually looked in the mirror (ergo, more natural … to them, only). How should we show them? … real or mirror? A puzzlement.
