This vintage real photo postcard features a young woman holding a single stem and flower. She is wearing a necklace and pendant. She is dressed in a pretty dress with an abundance of buttons. Note the checkered pattern which appears on her blouse and midway down her skirt. Subtle, but nice. She is holding onto an interesting chair. The message on the reverse of the postcard seems to be introducing the woman as “Annie Marie Auge”. I am unsure if I deciphered her last name correctly. The message also reveals that the woman is twenty-two years old. This postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

  1. Annie Marie seems to be who the card is being sent to. The sender, who is marking her 22nd birthday, and who is the person in the image, is Gleurielle (???) Druard

    • Thanks for the translation and the correction.

  2. Correction, I had your notes above in my head – the card is to Marie not Annie Marie

To my friend (female) Marie Augé (?)

    Memories of my 22 years

    Gleurielle (???) Druard

  3. Figured the name: Henriette Druard (or Dinard)

  4. If that lady weren’t long dead, she’d be a ringer for my character Sofia.

  5. It is interesting to see how you picture the character, Sofia. It would be fascinating to study how different people imagine different appearances for the same character in a book. What attributes of the reader cause them to see a character a certain way. There is more going on in that assessment than what the author has written. You have been shy about naming the book series you have written. I won’t be reserved about it though. I highly recommend reading RLB Hartmann’s series, “Tierra del Oro”. The books will take you to a different time, a different place, a different culture, and interesting and absorbing characters.

  6. How kind of you to say so! I’ve always saved photos of people who resemble my characters, but when I look at some of the early ones, those don’t always look as I see them now. I will shake off my shyness and mention that reviews expressing your sentiments on Amazon would be much appreciated.
