This lovely cabinet card portrait features an adorable young child sitting on a fabric covered chair. In addition to being adorable, he/she has a wonderful expression. In my opinion, it is an expression indicating that he/she is being entertained by someone near the camera. Perhaps mom is trying to keep the youngster’s interest.  The child is holding something but I can not identify the object. I believe this cabinet card is of Russian origin, but this is just a guess. Due to a language barrier, I do not know the name of the photographer. However, I do know when this photograph was taken. The photo dates back to 1905. Print on the reverse of the photograph indicates that the photographer had won prizes at various exhibitions between 1898 and 1903. Hopefully, a visitor to the Cabinet Card Gallery will be able to fill in the blanks in regard to this photograph. This photo has great clarity and is in very good condition (see scans).

  1. “Zoomed” in at 300% and the toy the child is holding appears to be a bird, possibly a duck. Lovely photo.

    • Thank you for checking.

  2. Have very sweet.
