maybe, she really had a (slight) squint? In this case, not looking directly into the camera, was best. interesting is the Bourbon lily, which holds the piece of jewellry appealing to me as a dress watch. In my imagination, this watch might habe been of meaning to her.
I think she has a Quebec pocket watch with the Quebec symbol – fleur de lys. Her passive expression may indicate a professional identity. It would be interesting to know more about the small cloth on her head.
