This vintage real photo postcard features American actress, Ethel Matthews (1870-1957). She appeared in films during the silent and early sound eras. Some of her notable films include “The Kid Brother” (1927), “The Cameraman” (1928), and “The Great Gabbo” (1929). She retired from acting in the early 1930s. There are seven portraits of Matthews in England’s National Portrait Gallery. This postcard was published by an obscure company, Angus Thomas Ltd.. The firm was located in London, England. The card is part of a series (No.95). Miss Matthews’s photograph was taken by the admired female celebrity photographer, Rita Martin. SOLD
