This vintage real photo postcard features an adorable little girl sitting on a high brick wall. Her dog has its front paws on the wall and its back feet on top of a dog house. The dog has a long metal chain. I believe the dog is some sort of Retriever. The caption below the image says “Playmates”. Indeed, they were. This postcard was published by W & K of London, England. It is part of a series (No.253). The card has a British stamp and a postmark from 1920. SOLD
This vintage real photo postcard features three women on riding burros, posing in front of Balanced Rock. The natural wonder is located within The Garden of the Gods. The photographer of this image is the Paul Goerke and Son studio, located in Manitou, Colorado. In the 1890’s, Goerke purchased the land around Balanced Rock. Goerke and his son, Curt, took photographs of tourists by the rock and sold them for 25 cents apiece. At the beginning of Goerke’s business there was no charge to view Balanced Rock. They made their money by charging for the portraits. Burros were among the props supplied by Goerke. This postcard has an Artura stamp box. The photo was taken sometime between 1908 and 1924. (SOLD)
This vintage photograph features an adorable little boy driving a goat cart. The child has flashes a wonderful smile as he sits in the buggy and holds the reigns. Note the goat’s large horns. The previous owner of this photograph provided me with some background about the image. Her grandfather was a soldier in World War II and this photograph was in the photo album he brought home from the war. This photograph measures about 5.0″ x 3.5″ and is in very good condition (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard provides a “feel good” impact on it’s viewers. A young well-dressed boy rides a tired looking donkey and he is wearing a smile that extends from ear to ear. He seems to be having the time of his life and his smile is infectious. A nice smile serves people well in life. Marilyn Monroe must have been in agreement about the importance of smiling when she said “A smile is the best makup any girl can wear”. Note that the donkey has a pennant hanging on his forehead. The pennant has “Illinois” printed on it. We can probably posit that this photo was taken in the “Land of Lincoln” (Illinois). This postcard has an “AZO” stamp box indicating that it was produced sometime between 1904 and 1918. The postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard features actress Maria Paudler (1903-1990). She was an Austro-Hungarian born German actress. She was the daughter of an architect. She received her acting training in Prague, performing on stage in both classical and modern roles from 1923 to 1938. After World War II she was imprisoned in the Czech Republic and was only set free after intervention from the Red Army. In 1949, she was severely injured in a car accident. The injuries almost ended her acting career. In 1951 she returned to acting and also directed some theatre productions. Paudler received offers from Hollywood but always rejected them. She published her memoirs in 1977. She was married to actor Georg Czimaq and when that marriage ended, she became engaged to actor Harry Liedtke. The IMDb credits Paudler with 63 acting appearances between 1926 and 1985. This photo postcard features Miss Paudler being upstaged by the geese that she is holding; one under each arm. Miss Paudler looks surprisingly comfortable in this pose. This postcard was published by Ross Verlag as part of a series (no. 3122/3). The logo for a film company appears in the lower right hand corner of the image. This vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

The star of the cast of six characters seen in this vintage real photo postcard, is a cow. This is not an ordinary cow. Although this is not a photograph of Elsie the Cow, or Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow; the cow seen in this image is a prize winning cow. Standing behind the cow are three well dressed men and two women. Judging by an abundance of smiles, all five people seem pretty happy. Behind the row of people is a small house, possibly a farm house. Speculating about the story behind this picture, I formulate the following hypothesis. I believe that our bovine friend has just won a prize for being superior to other cows, one way or another. The gentleman seen by the champion cow’s head, appears to be wearing a flower and an award ribbon by his lapel. When I looked at a close-up view of this cow, I noticed that it had horns. I began to think that this cow is actually a bull. However, some quick research revealed that female cows are born with horns. I was udderly surprised to learn this fact. This postcard was published by Cyko. The stamp box indicates that it dates to the time period between 1904 and 1920. This postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

This is a fantastic vintage real photo postcard. I am not spouting hyperbole. I have seen many postcards featuring rabbits, but usually the rabbits are dead. The bunnies had met their demise from the guns of hunters. Typically the rabbits are strung on a line and joined by several of their furry colleagues. This rare postcard features three live rabbits posing on a fabric covered table. What is the story behind this photograph? Are these bunnies show bunnies waiting to be judged? Are they for sale to be someone’s pet, or worse yet, someone’s dinner? The gentleman standing behind the rabbits is well dressed. He looks sharp in his three piece suit, high collared shirt, and large cap. This studio photo is in excellent condition (see scans). SOLD
This vintage real photo postcard features an adorable little girl. She is carrying two beautiful cats. One is peeking out of a wicker basket. This little girl is quite industrious. She is also transporting a second cat, a cloth bag, and a bouquet of flowers. She must have been so busy remembering what cargo she was taking from home that she forgot to put on her shoes. This postcard was made in France and was published by Fauvette (no.1319). The postcard was most likely published in 1913 as a closely numbered Fauvette card in the Cabinet Card Gallery collection has a 1913 postmark. ADDENDUM: Further research reveals that the model in this postcard is most likely, Hani Reinwald, sister of popular postcard model, Grete Reinwald. Both girls became stage and film actresses. SOLD
This vintage real photo postcard features a uniformed World War I soldier holding a piglet in his arms. The soldier’s smile makes me nervous. Does he have some culinary plans for this cute pigling? The soldier has two observers. A mustachioed military man stands behind him and a woman is peering through a doorway at the soldier with the pig. The piglet carrier is wearing a pin on his lapel. Is he an officer? What country does he represent? My guess is that he is a member of the Austro-Hungarian military. It is just my best guess based on insufficient research. This postcard is in good condition (see scans).
