This vintage real photo postcard features actress, singer, and comedienne, Miss Edith Fink. Information about Miss Fink is sparse. The website “Find A Grave” provides a bit of information about her life and death. She was born in Nottingham, England, in 1884. She died in Poole, England in 1957. At the time of her passing, her full name was Edith Kate Fink Lashwood. She had been married to George Lashwood (1863-1942). Their marriage took place in 1917. George Lashwood has been described as a “handsome and distinguished” well-dressed singer of popular and patriotic songs. He also appeared in pantomimes and made recordings of many of his songs. Note the purple typed message on the reverse of this postcard. The writer, Louise, tells the reader that Miss Fink is playing Cinderella at the “Prince of Wales Theatre” in London. A faded postmark reveals that this postcard was written and mailed in 1906. This card was published by E. C. Osborne & Son. The firm was located in Birmingham, England. SOLD

WIRED-HAIR TERRIER : PORTRAIT OF A HANDSOME DOG : POSTCARD PORTRAIT

This vintage postcard features an adorable wired-hair terrier. The dog may be a different breed, or even a mixed breed, but certainly has the appearance of a wired-hair terrier. This is a lithographic chrome postcard. It was printed in Italy and part of a series (no.1929/6). This postcard is in excellent condition (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a handsome young man. He is well dressed. Note his comfy looking overcoat and his wonderfully worn hat. This postcard was purchased in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The stamp box on this postcard indicates that it was published by K Ltd., sometime between 1918 and 1936. The postcard is in good condition (see scans).

OKLAHOMA PORTLAND CEMENT CO. : ADA, OKLAHOMA : VINTAGE POSTCARD : AERIAL VIEW

This vintage postcard features the Oklahoma Portland Cement Company. The firm was located in Ada, Oklahoma. The company appears to have a very large facility and close access to the local railroad. The Oklahoma Porland Cement Company was built in 1906 and had the capacity to utilize twelve rail cars a day. This postcard is a lithograph by Stall Studio. The card was published by C.T. Photochrom (Curt Teich, Chicago, Illinois). SOLD

VERA TSCHECHOWA : GERMAN FILM ACTRESS, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, AND SCREENWRITER

This vintage real photo postcard features Vera Tschechowa (1940- ), German film actress, director, producer, and screenwriter. The IMDb lists her as having 94 acting credits between 1957 and 1996. She has directed many film stars, including Anthony Quinn and Robert Redford. Vera’s mother was an actress. She is the grandaughter of Russian-American actor Michael Chekhov. She was raised by her grandmother, silent film star Olga Tschechowa (1897-1980). A photograph of Olga Tschechowa can be found elsewhere in the Cabinet Card Gallery collection. Vera Tschechowa certainly has had a very impressive career in films. This postcard was published by Kolibri. This postcard has album residue on it’s reverse. The card is in overall good condition (see scans).

VERMOT : FRENCH BOXER : (1912)

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a boxer. His name is listed as “Vermot”. Unfortunately, without knowing his first name, it is difficult to confirm the identity of this fighter. It is likely that this is a photograph of “Vernot”, a French light weight boxer active in 1912. He only fought one bout. This postcard was published by Dix, a company located in Paris. The firm published a series of postcards of boxers of the day. This postcard offers a crisp image and is in very good condition (see scans). SOLD

PRETTY WOMAN : SAD EXPRESSION : DARK SILK DRESS : T.I.C. : (1928)

This vintage real photo postcard features a young woman displaying a sad facial expression. I wonder what she was thinking about as she had her portrait taken. She is wearing, what appears to be, a dark silk dress. This postcard was published by T.I.C (Thomas Illingworth & Company). The firm was established in London in I t is about 1904 and the company manufactured the Horse Shoe Brand of photographic paper. It is believed that the company operated until about 1930. A coding existed on later T. I.C cards which identified the year of publication. This postcard was published in 1928. This postcard has been skillfully trimmed to fit a frame or album. Overall, this vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans).
