GORGEOUS WEDDING PORTRAIT OF A GERMAN COUPLE

This vintage real photo postcard features a very handsome looking German wedding couple. The bride and groom look very serious on their special day. They are both very well dressed. The bride is wearing a beautiful veil and note the lovely bouquet of flowers that she is holding. A faint embossed stamp gives a clue concerning the photographer. The word “Birkenfeld” is visible. “Birkenfeld” is the name of the location of the photographer’s studio. The photographer’s name is Stadelmanz. The message on the reverse of the postcard appears to be written to Fritz, the signer’s friend. Hopefully a cabinet card gallery visitor (the vast unpaid research department) can leave a comment with a translation of the message. This vintage postcard portrait is most likely from the 1920’s or 1930’s and is in excellent condition.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER POSE WITH A STUFFED MULE IN DENVER, COLORADO

This vintage real photo postcard features two women posing with a stuffed donkey. The donkey is wearing a banner that says “Denver”. The photograph was taken by the Colotex studio which was located in Denver. My guess is that “Colotex” stands for “Colorado/Texas”. Perhaps the photographer had lived and/or worked in both states. I would also posit that the subjects in this photo are mother and daughter. The “AZO” stamp box indicates that this postcard was produced between 1904 and 1918. The postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

PRETTY EDWARDIAN YOUNG WOMAN AND HER WHIMSICAL HAT

This vintage real photo postcard features a beautiful young woman and her whimsical hat. She is looking over her shoulder and looking coyly at the photographer. The postcard was published by Paul Finkenrath, the Berlin postcard publishing and printing business. It is part of a series. (no. 1018). The Paul Finkenroth company made quality photo postcards and the company was heavily oriented toward export. They were known to be responsive to printing postcards that they’re customers desired over time. They were quite profitable but closed in 1911 when protective tariffs interfered with their business. The company was established by Paul Finkenrath and Paul Grasnick in 1897. The partnership lasted about a year and then Grasnick left to start his own lithography studio. The postmark on this postcard indicates that it was stamped in Kortrijk, a Belgian city in the Flemish province of West Flanders. It was postmarked in 1916 and has a Belgian stamp.

AN ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL AND THE CAT IN THE HAT

This vintage real photo postcard offers a fun portrait of a very adorable little girl and her cat. The cat is not an ordinary cat. It is the cat in the hat; and the cat is also wearing a dress, or coat. The little girl seems to be very happy while her poor cat seems to be very unhappy about wearing human clothing. The child must be a futurist. Somehow she knew that a day would arrive, many decades after her time, that people would buy wardrobes for their pets. This postcard was published by the Rapid Photo Company. The company existed between 1901 and 1910. It was located in London, England. The company is best known for their portraits of actresses. The postcard is part of a series (Series 191, no. 3589).  (SOLD)
