This vintage postcard features “Montauk Manor”, a summer resort in Montauk, Long Island, New York. . The village of Montauk is located on the east end of Long Island. It is known for it’s strong Atlantic surf, beaches, and the Montauk Point lighthouse. There is a lot happening on the large front lawn of the manor. Note the four horses, riders, and hitching post. You can also see old cars in the driveway. Carl Fisher wanted to build an incredible summer resort that would be unsurpassed. He was a multi-millionaire industrialist. The resort offered a beach club, yacht club, tennis courts, golf, and polo field. The resort opened it’s doors in 1927. The resort also included a grand 200 room hotel. Montauk Manor sat on10,000 acres. Today, the hotel has transitioned into a 140 condominium community with a private health and sports club.
