This vintage real photo postcard has a number of interesting features. The women are posed on a fabric covered bench. They are dressed in noteworthy attire. One is wearing a nautical type outfit while the other is dressed in a kimono styled pant suit, or possibly pajamas. I wish I knew the story of these two women. What was the nature of their relationship? Sisters? Lovers? Due to the passage of time, the story has to be whatever we imagine it to be. This photograph was taken by the Foto Rembrandt studio in Bucharest, Romania. Viewing the photographers ink stamp on the reverse of the postcard, leads me to believe that the photographer was A. Maza. The stamp box indicates that the postcard was published by K Ltd sometime between 1918 and 1936. At least one postcard collector has posited that K Ltd may actually be the maker of the paper that the postcard is printed on. SOLD

This vintage real photo postcard presents an interesting ethnological portrait of a Romanian couple dressed in traditional garb. It is notable that this couple was not concerned about public displays of affection. The young man has his right arm wrapped around the woman’s shoulder/back. The young lady’s hand is resting on the gentleman’s shoulder. The pair give an appearance of a proud loving couple. Could this be a wedding portrait? Note the woman’s purse. It has a design that includes someone holding a leash attatched to a dog. An inscription on the reverse of this postcard reveals that the photograph was taken in 1937. The postcard is in very good condition.

A “bevy” of beauties? I’ve never used that word before. What is a bevy? I looked up the word and learned that a “bevy” is a “large group of people of a particular kind”. The “particular kind” in this vintage photograph are pretty young woman in their bathing suits at the beach. The beach is located in Romania and is at the edge of the Black Sea. Some of the women are using parasols to protect themselves from the sun. The reverse of the photograph has a stamp indicating that the photo was taken in Contanta, a city on the shores of the Black Sea. It is located in southeastern Romania. I would love to know the story behind this image. Are these young ladies, friends on a beach trip, or are they models posed by a professional photographer? What’s your guess? This photograph measures about 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″. SOLD
