MISS SPAIN : CONTESTANT IN THE MISS EUROPE BEAUTY CONTEST

The pretty young woman seen in this vintage real photo postcards is a contestant in one of the early 1930’s Miss Europe beauty contest. She represented Spain in the competition.The Miss Europe contest was established by a French journalist in 1927. Most of the women in this event had won their own country’s national beauty contest, and used the Miss Europe contest as a warm-up for the Miss World pageant. This postcard was published by the well known and acclaimed photographer, Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. Miss Spain’s portrait was photographed by the studio of M. Pergay. This vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

MISS FRANCE, MISS BELGIUM, AND MISS ITALY CHAT AT THE MISS EUROPE PAGEANT (1930’s)

This vintage 1930’s photo postcard features three contestants in the Miss Europe contest. Most of the women in the competition had won national beauty contests in their own country and progressed to the Miss Europe contest as a warm-up to competing for the Miss World title. This photographic postcard presents Miss France, Miss Belgium, and Miss Italy. The three contestants are beautiful and marvelously dressed. This postcard was published by Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. He was very talented and well respected. This vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans). SOLD

MISS BULGARIA, SEVENTEEN YEAR-OLD VERA RUSINOVA COMPETES IN THE 1993 MISS WORLD CONTEST

This vintage photograph features the beautiful contestant from Bulgaria that participated in the 1993 Miss World Contest. This young lady’s name is Vera Roussinova (aka Vyara Rusinova). Miss Rusinova was only seventeen years old at the time of the contest. She did not place in the top ten finishers, but she likely had an amazing experience participating in the event and serving as Miss Bulgaria for a full year. The winner of the 1993 Miss World title was Lisa Hanna, representing Jamaica. In total, there were 81 contestants participating in the pageant which took place in Sun City, South Africa. This vintage photograph measures about 5″ x 7″ and is in excellent condition (see scans).

MISS SPAIN : CONTESTANT IN THE MISS EUROPE BEAUTY CONTEST

miss spain 1The pretty young woman seen in this vintage real photo postcards is a contestant in the 1931 Miss Europe beauty contest. She represented Spain in the competition. Her name was Ermelina Carreno (1912-1999). She became Miss Spain when she won the competition representing the region Castilla-La Mancha. A book about her was written by Enrique Sanchez Lubian and published in 2009. The book was entitled “Ermelin: The Beauty That Gave Birth To The Republic: Origins Of The Misses Contests In Spain, 1929-1932”. The Miss Europe contest was established by a French journalist in 1927. Most of the women in this event had won their own country’s national beauty contest, and used the Miss Europe contest as a warm-up for the Miss World pageant. This postcard was published by the well known and acclaimed photographer, Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. Miss Carreno’s portrait was photographed by St Mano studio. This vintage postcard is in very good condition (see scans)..

The pretty young woman seen in these vintage real photo postcards is a contestant in the Miss Europe beauty contest. The young woman’s name is Liliana Delescu..She represented Romania in the 1932 competition. The contest included only European contestants. The contest was established by a French journalist in 1927. Most of the women in this event had won their own country’s national beauty contest, and used the Miss Europe contest as a warm-up for the Miss World pageant. Miss Delescu has been described by a fellow blogger as having a “certain mystery” and a “a come hither” look. She went on to become a respected composer. This postcard was published by the well known and acclaimed photographer, Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. Postcard 2 was photographed by the M Pergay Studio and published by Noyer. Postcard 1 and Postcard 2 are in very good condition (see scans).

MISS HUNGARY : BEAUTIFUL CONTESTANT IN THE MISS EUROPE CONTEST (1930’s)

This vintage real photo postcard features Miss Hungary, a contestant in the Miss Europe pageant. She is beautiful and has a wonderful smile. This photograph was taken around the time of the competition (early 1930’s). This beauty pageant includes only European contestants. The contest was established by a French journalist in 1927. The first contest was held at the Paris Opera and 18 countries were represented. The winner in 1927 was from Yugoslavia. The latest winner (2019), is from Spain. Most of the women in this contest won their own country’s national beauty contest, and used the Miss Europa contest as a warm-up for the Miss World pageant. This postcard was published by well known and acclaimed photographer, Alfred Noyer. His Paris studio operated between 1910 and the 1940’s. The postcard is part of a series (no. 10) and is in excellent condition (see scans).

PORTRAIT OF MISS JAPAN (1961)

This vintage real photo postcard features Miss Japan of 1961. She was a competitor in a beauty contest. Most likely, the identity of the beautiful woman in this photograph is either Chi Murakami (Miss Japan in the Miss World Pageant), or Akemi Toyama (Miss Japan in the Miss Universe Pageant). Miss Murakami was a semifinalist (top 15) in her competition and Miss Toyama did not place in her contest. The postcard was published by Whelan of Long Beach, California. This real photo postcard is in excellent condition (see scans).
