This vintage real photo postcard features a boxer, or possibly a wrestler, in a fighting pose. He is not wearing any boxing gloves which leads me to believe that he is more likely a wrestler. One thing is certain; I know that he is not a UFC fighter. The boxer is unidentified. The postcard is likely from France, since similar boxing postcards in my collection are from that nation. (SOLD)
A SOLDIER AND HIS FAMILY IN BREST, FRANCE
This vintage real photo postcard features a uniformed soldier and his family. He is wearing a pin with the number “253” on his collar. This likely indicates that he was in the 253rd regiment. Note the wrapping around the bottom of his pant legs. I wonder about the purpose of the wrap. The soldier’s wife looks almost out of the photo. She is stiff and and looks disconnected from her son and husband. The soldier’s son is wearing a navy style shirt. The soldier looks intense but proud. “Photo Pierre” is the name of the studio that produced this postcard. The photographer was located in Brest, France. SOLD
INDIAN PUNDITS : TRINIDAD : HINDUISM : RPPC (c 1930’s)
This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of “Indian Pundits” in Trinidad. A pundit is “a man with specialized knowledge or a teacher of any field of knowledge in Hinduism”. Today, as we see on the major cable news networks, a pundit is an expert in any specific area of knowledge. It is interesting to note that Hinduism is the second largest religion in Trinidad and Tobago. This ethnographic postcard is part of a series (no.400). The photo on this postcard was taken in 1931 and the card itself dates back to the 1930’s. SOLD
MAJORETTE : PRETTY GIRL WITH LONG HAIR : BATON : BELLS : SCARBOROUGH
This vintage real photo postcard features a pretty teenage girl who appears to be dressed in a uniform. My guess is that she is a majorette of some sort. It seems that she is holding a baton and is wearing bells around her wrists. Her hat is unusual. She is grinning as she looks at the camera. This photograph was taken at the Boxell & Co. studio in Scarborough, England. The postcard is in excellent condition (see scans).

NANCY ALWYN : PRETTY ACTRESS : UNCOMMON RPPC
This vintage real photo postcard features theater actress, Miss Nancy Alwyn. There not much easily accessible information about this actress. Although her photograph appears in a number of cigarette card series, it is difficult to find another Nancy Alwyn postcard. Alwyn cards are certainly uncommon. The only Alwyn cards on ebay at the moment are this one and another. I am the seller for both of them. Miss Alwyn’s photo portrait was taken by James H. Jamieson. This postcard was published by Rotary Photo as part of a series (No. 11548 C). (SOLD)
ANDREE MEGARD : FRENCH ACTRESS AND STAGE BEAUTY : PHOTO BY REUTLINGER : RPPC
This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of French actress and stage beauty, Andree Megard (1869-1952). She was born in France. Her parents were “well-off peasents” . At some point, her parents sent her to an Aunt to work in the aunt’s dry goods store. At fifteen years of age, she ran away to Paris. At first, she worked as an artist model. From 1896 to 1925, she appeared on the Paris stage in such works as Shakespeare and plays directed by her husband, Firmin Gemier. In 1913, while playing in Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, she had an affair with Rostand. In 1907, she starred in “Anna Karenina”. In 1909, she appeared in a silent film. Megard was viewed as representing the highest echelon of fashion and beauty. She was considered “tall, graceful, and distinguished looking”. The international public monitored her hairstyle, and her costumes very closely. She was the subject of many magazine and newspaper articles. The portrait of Miss Megard seen on this postcard was taken by Leopold Reutlinger’s studio in Paris, France. It is part of a series (no.2268). Reutlinger was a very popular celebrity photographer. This vintage postcard portrait is in good condition (see scans).
