PORTRAIT OF A BEAUTIFUL NURSE IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS


This cabinet card photograph features a portrait of a very pretty young nurse, or maid. She clearly is clearly is wearing a uniform. She seems very serious as she poses for her photograph at the Louis H. Rudolph studio in Chicago, Illinois. She has a wide-eyed expression and seems very attentive to the photographer. A drawing of the photographer’s studio (street view) can be seen on the reverse of the photograph. A sign in the window of the drawn building indicates that, at the time, cabinet cards sold for two dollar per dozen photographs. A listing of Chicago’s early photographers reports that Rudolph operated a studio between 1892 and 1900. He was born in 1871 and married Henrietta S. C. Ziehn in 1895. (SOLD)

This vintage postcard features a pretty young woman picking flowers. She is also carrying a basket of flowers. The caption on the bottom of the card states “Mignon”. The translation of this word is “cute” and “nice”. This postcard has an Italian stamp and was postmarked in Dumenza, Italy. The card dates back to the 1910’s. (S0LD)

PORTRAIT OF A PRETTY YOUNG WOMAN : BY ELMER CHICKERING : BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
This cabinet card portrait features a welll dressed pretty young woman posing at the Elmer Chickering studio in Boston, Massachusetts. The woman is wearing a ring, earrings and a tight necklace. She has piercing eyes. Elmer Chickering (1857-1915?) was a prestigious Boston photographer who was began his career in the city around 1884. His obituary states that he photographed many of the leading men and women of the city, state and nation. Chickering was well known his baseball related photographs as well as for his many celebrity portraits. This cabinet card is in fair condition. Note the tiny chip on the mid left border of the image (see scans).

PRETTY AND FASHIONABLE TEENAGE GIRL IN SPENCER, MASSACHUSETTS : CABINET CARD
This cabinet card portrait features a pretty and fashionable young woman. She appears to be in her teenage years. Note that she is wearing a brooch at her collar. The young lady’s portrait was taken by Edward Lyman Jaynes at his studio in Spencer, Massachusetts. Jaynes operated his studio in Spencer between 1873 and 1920. Jaynes was born in Massachusetts 1842. He served in the Massachusetts 17th infantry regiment during the civil war. He began and finished his service as a private. One source reports that Jaynes died in 1937, at age 95. This cabinet card has gold bevelled edges. (SOLD)
FASHIONABLE WOMAN : WINTER ATTIRE ; AUSTIN, TEXAS
This vintage photograph features a fashionable woman posing for her photograph at an unidentified location. She is wearing winter clothing, including gloves. She is also wearing a pillbox hat. This style of hat was popular during the 1930’s and especially in the 1950’s and 1960’s. This photo was found in an antique shop in Austin, Texas. The photograph is in good condition (see scans). FLORA GRANTHAM : PRETTY YOUNG WOMAN : PARASOL : CABINET CARD : WILMINGTON, OHIO
The pretty young woman in this cabinet card photograph is identified on the reverse of the card as Flora Grantham. She is wearing flowers pinned to her dress and holding a parasol. Flora Grantham was born in 1863 in Indiana. The 1870 US census reveals that she was living in Wilmington, Ohio with her parents and four siblings. Her father was a Justice of the Peace. The 1880 census, taken when Flora was a sixteen year old student, found her father no longer in her household. Flora married in 1897 and her married name was Flora G. Patterson. Her husband was a merchant and the pair lived in Wilmington. The photographer of this image is Charles Butterworth (1858-1936). He is listed as a Wilmington based photographer in the 1880 US census.By 1900, he was operating a photography studio in Portland, Oregon. SOLD

The pretty young woman in this cabinet card photograph is dressed fashionably and wearing a brooch on her collar. She is well poised and appears to be in her teenage years. This photo was taken by the Mitchell Studio in Kansas City, Missouri. There was a photographer named A. D. Mitchell operating a studio in Kansas City between 1890 and 1891, according to a Kansas City business directory. This cabinet card portrait has a tiny clip on it’s bottom left hand corner. It is in overall good condition. (SOLD)

A pretty young woman wearing a sailor dress poses with a boat oar, rope, and life preserver at the Williams studio in Crouch End, England. Hopefully, she didn’t get her hair wet because her hair is so long that it might take decades to dry. This nautical minded subject appears to be standing on the steps outside a building, though it is possible that she is actually inside a studio in front of a terrific backdrop. Crouch End is five miles outside of London. SOLD
