TWO BEAUTIFUL AND NICELY DRESSED YOUNG SISTERS POSE FOR THEIR PORTRAIT

The two pretty young girls in this photograph are nicely dressed and well poised. Their facial expressions give an appearance of maturity that is beyond their chronological years. The older girl has her hand on her hip; a pose that may communicate some impatience with the process of being photographed. The girls are likely sisters. The photograph is trimmed, so the name of the photographer of this image is unknown. The children are also unidentified.    (SOLD)

The writer of this postcard (Maggie) has sent the card to her Aunt and Uncle in Belleville, Kansas. She states in the message that her babies are well, but she finds that she has her “hands full” with them. Some things never change. This postcard was published by NPG as part of a series (no.762/5). BOY RIDES DONKEY : SMILING EAR TO EAR (RPPC 1900’s OR 1910’s)

This vintage real photo postcard provides a “feel good” impact on it’s viewers. A young well-dressed boy rides a tired looking donkey and he is wearing a smile that extends from ear to ear. He seems to be having the time of his life and his smile is infectious. A nice smile serves people well in life. Marilyn Monroe must have been in agreement about the importance of smiling when she said “A smile is the best makup any girl can wear”. Note that the donkey has a pennant hanging on his forehead. The pennant has “Illinois” printed on it. We can probably posit that this photo was taken in the “Land of Lincoln” (Illinois). This postcard has an “AZO” stamp box indicating that it was produced sometime between 1904 and 1918. The postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

A GIRL WITH A WONDERFUL SMILE IN HOF, GERMANY

A pretty girl poses for her portrait at the Wilhelm Muller studio in Hof, Germany. Hof is a city in Bavaria, Germany. The city is located near the border with Czechoslovakia. This photograph may be a confirmation or communion picture. She appears to be a teenager and is very nicely dressed. She is wearing two necklaces, earrings, and a bracelet with a charm. She is also wearing a bow in her hair. She is holding something in her left hand, and what it is, isn’t exactly clear. The object appears to be a book or a purse. Perhaps a cabinet card gallery visitor can identify what it is that she is holding. One thing that is certain is that the girl in this photograph has a wonderful smile. This cabinet card portrait is in very good condition (see scans).
