TWO SIBLINGS AND THEIR PET DOG POSE FOR A PORTRAIT IN EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN

kidsdogf_0008

Two young children and their pet dog pose for their portrait at the Bonell studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Big brother and little sister look intently at the camera as does their canine friend. In fact, the dog must have been well trained to sit on a stool for a long enough time to be photographed. The children are well dressed. It is unusual to see a boy as young as the subject in this photograph wearing a suit and accessorizing with a pocket watch. The kids in this image are cute but the dog steals the show. The photographer of this image is Frederick Bonell. In addition to having a studio in Eau Claire, he also conducted business in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. At the time of this photograph his Eau Claire studio was located on the corner of Barstow & Gibson Streets. One source states that Bonell worked as a photographer between 1879 and 1890. THE “MURRAY SISTERS” BEING ADORABLE IN YORK, PENNSYLVANIA

MURRAY SISTERSThe “Murray Sisters” assume an adorable pose at the Shadle & Busser studio in York, Pennsylvania. The girls appear to be entertainers, likely singers, dancers, or a combination of both. The sisters were probably teenagers at the time of this portrait. Research yielded no identifying information about these photogenic girls. A casual review of theater periodicals (1908-1913) uncovered  an act called the “Murray Sisters” but it is not certain that they are one and the same as the girls in this image. This act toured the country and the sisters were described as operatic singers. The oldest sister was named Marion and the youngest was named Vic or Victoria. SIX YOUNG BOYS UNHAPPILY POSE FOR THEIR PORTRAIT IN COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

When does the fun start? That seems to be the question on the faces of the six young lads posing for their photograph at the studio of Julius Jacobsen, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The boys are dressed up in their finest clothing for this group photograph. Jacobsen took on the ambitious task of photographing six young boys. Jacobsen’s studio was located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It appears that the lads were not in a very cooperative mood at the time of the photograph. They appear bored, sleepy and irritated. Some of them have mischievous expressions but probably they are just boys being boys. How are these six kids related in terms of being photographed together. Perhaps they are classmates? They seem somewhat affectionate in the photograph leading one to believe that they knew each other well.
