A young cyclist poses with his bicycle in this vintage real photo postcard. The studio photograph shows the young man wearing the uniform of his bike club (V.C.K.). His bike clothing looks comfortable and clearly facilitates easier riding. Compare his clothing to the cumbersome bicycle clothing seen in photographs of woman of this era. Women clearly had to sacrifice comfort for beauty and modesty.  I believe that this RPPC is of French origin. The logo of the publishing company of the postcard paper has a logo showing a horse and horseshoe (see image or reverse).

A PRETTY WOMAN WEARING A BATHING SUIT AT THE BEACH IN ORIVAL, FRANCE (1933 REAL PHOTO POSTCARD)

A pretty young woman, with her hands on her hips, poses in her bathing suit at a French beach. She flashes a sweet smile at the photographer. Note her bathing cap. An inscription on the reverse of this vintage real photo postcard indicates that the photo was taken in 1933 in Orival, France. Located in the Seine-Maritime department, Orival is in Northern France. The village is in the woods and situated on the banks and cliffs of the river Seine. This image is a particularly nice French beach photo.  (SOLD)

LITTLE BOY FEEDING HIS BULLDOG IN A HIGH CHAIR (ADORABLE VINTAGE REAL PHOTO POSTCARD)

This vintage real photo postcard features a young child standing on a chair and helping his handsome English Bull Dog get settled in a high chair to be served a meal. The child is putting a bib on the dog. This photograph is incredibly cute. The postcard was published by the Rotary Photo Company and was part of a Rotary Photographic Series (no. 9715 A). The Rotary Photographic Company was founded in London in 1901. It was a major publisher of real photo postcards. This particular postcard was probably published between 1900 and 1910.  (SOLD)

PORTRAIT OF A PRETTY TEENAGE GIRL PLAYING THE VIOLIN

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a pretty girl playing a violin. She appears to be in her teenage years and is flashing a lovely smile and she has very expressive eyes. She seems to be having a good time as she poses for her photograph at an unidentified photography studio. This young musician is wearing a relatively simple dress with a lace collar. She is also wearing a large hair bow. The postcard has an “AZO” stamp box which indicates that the photograph was taken sometime between 1904 and 1918.   (SOLD)

FRENCH ACTRESS GISELE GRIMAUX USING WORLDS FIRST CELL PHONE IN 1927 (VINTAGE RPPC)

This vintage real photo postcard features French actress Gisele Grimaux caught in a candid moment as she texts her boyfriend on her cell phone. Amazingly, this photograph is dated 1927, indicating that the lovely Miss Grimaux’s cell phone was certainly a prototype. Enough with the humor. It is actually a mystery as to what the costumed Gisele Grimaux is holding in her hand that draws her intense attention. Possibilities include a mirror or a photograph. The reverse of the postcard identifies the actress and the date.

PORTRAIT OF TWO SMILING WORLD WAR I SOLDIERS (REAL PHOTO POSTCARD 1904-1908)

Two World War I era soldiers flash terrific smiles as they pose for their portrait. It is difficult to decipher the name of the studio from the embossed stamp on the image. The name appears to be the “Nunlike Studio” but I am not too confident that I am correct. The men in this image are dressed in uniform with long coats and military hats. The “Cyko” stamp box on this postcard indicates that it was published between 1904 and 1908. This is a very early example of a Cyko postcard. The company published postcards from 1904 through part of the 1920’s.   SOLD

A MAN RIDING A RACING BIKE: NEED FOR SPEED: This vintage real photo postcard features a bicycle racer sitting on his bike. I believe he has goggles strapped around his head. The lens’s are visible at the front of his cap. Note the photographers embossed stamp on the bottom of the right hand side of the image. This photograph was taken by Antoine Provost who worked as a photographer in Toulouse, France. At one point his studio was located at Rue de la Pomme. The photographer did an excellent job of posing the rider. The image captures the feel of speed and motion. The postcard was published by “K Ltd” sometime between 1918 and 1936.  (SOLD)

This vintage real photo postcard features an angelic looking little girl posing for her portrait at the Kalmar Studio in Budapest, Hungary. This bright eyed little girl is a photogenic cutie pie.  The stamp box indicates that this postcard was published by K Ltd and that the photo was taken sometime between 1918 and 1936.

“THE BUTTERFLY KIDS” (HAND TINTED 1906 FRENCH REAL PHOTO POSTCARD)

This vintage real photo postcard features two beautiful children with colorful butterfly wings. One can suppose that they are also being symbolically represented as fairies or angels. This postcard was used in France and was postmarked in St. Vincent in 1906. The postcard was mailed to Sisteron, France. The postcard was published by the GL Company and is number 1174/5 in a series. The G. L. Company (1903-1920’s) was located in the Netherlands and was known for their real photo postcards featuring children and women that were used as holiday and general greeting cards. The also produced postcards that featured actresses and nudes as subjects. Most of the postcards they produced were hand tinted.

THREE EXPRESSIVE WOMEN WITH HATS (VINTAGE REAL PHOTO POSTCARD)

This vintage real photo postcard features three well dressed women wearing interesting hats and interesting expressions. The two women on the right have countenances like the “cat that ate the canary”. The ladies were photographed by an unknown studio at an unknown location. The “AZO” stamp box indicates that the postcard was published sometime between 1904 and 1918.
