This vintage real photo postcard features theater actress, Miss Nancy Alwyn. There not much easily accessible information about this actress. Although her photograph appears in a number of cigarette card series, it is difficult to find another Nancy Alwyn postcard. Alwyn cards are certainly uncommon. The only Alwyn cards on ebay at the moment are this one and another. I am the seller for both of them. Miss Alwyn’s photo portrait was taken by James H. Jamieson. This vintage postcard features a portrait of beautiful stage actress Mimi Fritz. This is a rare postcard and there was little information found about Miss Fritz from a preliminary search of the internet. This postcard is risque for it’s era since Mlle Fritz is exposing her breast and bare shoulders. This postcard was published by Venus as part of a series (287). SOLD

JESICKA : PRETTY YOUNG WOMAN WITH SURPLUS HAIR : PHOTO BY PAUL BOYER
This vintage real photo postcard features pretty French theatre actress Jesicka. She looks elegant. Note her plethora of hair. Jesicka’s photograph was taken by Paul Boyer (1861-1908), who operated a photo studio in Paris, France. He photographed many celebrities. This postcard was published by Rotophot (RPH) as part of a series (7426). The company was based in Berlin, Germany. This postcard is very uncommon. I could not find another “Jesicka” postcard during my preliminary research. However, I did find that she appears in a cigarette card series. (SOLD)
HANNI MAURUS : RISQUE PORTRAIT OF A PRETTY DANCER (RARE RPPC)

This postcard features a risque portrait of pretty performer, Hanni Maurus. This photograph captures Miss Maurus in costume and performing a dance. This is a rare postcard. I could not find another portrait postcard of this performer. I do not know if Hanni is related to Aurstrian actress Gerda Maurus. This postcard was published by the Garloff Brothers of Mafgdeburg, Saxony, Germany. This cabaret photo was most likely taken by Paul Pietsch and dates back to the 1920’s. (SOLD)

This vintage real photo postcard features cabaret performer Mlle. Rochet. She is wearing a provocative costume and this is a risque photo postcard for it’s era. Rochet is shown in costume for a performance at the Theatre des Varietes. The club was, and remains located, in Paris, France. It was opened in 1807. This postcard is from the very early 1900’s. It is part of a series (no. 169). The publisher or photographer is “DOL”. The card is unposted. Note the crease in the lower right hand corner. (SOLD)

This cabinet card portrait features a pretty young woman who is probably an actress. She is wearing a theatrical type dress and the area around her eyes appear to have been enhanced by make-up. Her hair is up and adorned with a small string of pearls. Note the pin used to close the top of the front of her dress. This woman’s portrait was taken at the Elite Studio, 838 Market Street, in San Francisco, California. The studio was operated by a Mr Jones and Mr Lotz. (SOLD)
BRIGITTE HORNEY : THEATER & FILM ACTRESS :DAUGHTER OF PSYCHOANALYST KAREN HORNEY
This vintage real photo postcard features German theater and film actress, Brigitte Horney (1911-1988). She was well known for her role in “Baron Munchhausen (1943) and was considered one of Germany’s great actresses. The IMDb reports that Brigitte has 84 acting credits between 1930 and 1990. She was the daughter of a very famous psychoanalyst, Karen Horney. She moved to the United States after her mothers death to open the Karen Horney Clinic in New York City. Brigitte became a US citizen in 1953. This portrait postcard photo was taken by Hammerer. The logo for Wien Films can be seen on the lower right hand corner of the card. The postcard is part of a seies (no. A 3829/2). This postcard is in excellent condition (see scans).
