PRETTY TEENAGE GIRL AND HER ACCORDION

accordion

accordion 1 This vintage photograph features a pretty teenage girl and her accordion. She has bright eyes and a lovely smile. She is casting a shadow on the wall behind her. The shadow enhances the photograph by providing interesting contrast. Hopefully, a visitor to the Cabinet Card Gallery, will be able to identify the Maker and Model of this musical instrument, and leave an informative comment. I can identify the words “Concerto”, “Melodija”, and possibly “Hohner”, on the instrument, This photo of this lovely musician and her accordion, was found in Serbia. I can not decipher the inscription on the reverse of the photograph. The scallop edged photograph measures about   5 1/4″ x 3 1/4″  and is in very good condition (see scans).

A BOY RIDING A DONKEY: NEITHER ONE LOOKS TOO THRILLED

boy riding donkey

boy riding donkey 1 This vintage real photo postcard features an image of a young boy riding a donkey. The boy is well dressed and is wearing a shirt and tie. He is seated on a saddle, holding the reins, and his feet are in the stirrups. Neither the boy nor the donkey appear happy. The reverse of the postcard identifies the boy as being Ralph W. The 1930 US census finds Ralph living in Middlesex, New Jersey with his parents and sister. A 1936 business directory lists Ralph as living in Somerville, Jew Jersey with his wife, Bertha S. Ruch. Social security information reports that Ralph died in 1994.. This postcard is addressed to a boy in Jamison City, Pennsylvania. The postcard paper was produced by AZO sometime between 1904 and 1918.  (SOLD)boy riding donkey 2

PORTRAIT OF A LITTLE GEISHA GIRL (CDV)

GISHA CDV

GISHA CDV 1

This cartes de visite portrait features a smiling barefoot little girl dressed as a geisha. She is holding an Asian style umbrella. Geisha girls are Japanese women who are entertainers. They perform ancient traditions of art, dance, and song. They wear traditional costumes and make-up. There was a time that geisha fashion was popular in the Western world. Both adult women and young children, in the west, would wear this Japanese fashion. It is not uncommon to find cabinet card era (late 19th and early 20th century) photographs of Western women wearing kimonos. This cdv photograph measures about 2 5/8″ x 3 5/8″.  (SOLD)GISHA CDV 2
