Two very well dressed children pose in their winter coats and hats at the studio of H. C. Gabriel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The children are posed in a faux outdoor scene complete with snow on the ground and snow covered fences. Herman C. Gabriel is noted in the 1900 U. S. census. The census reveals that he was born in Austria in 1833. He was married in 1873 to Johanna Gabriel. He was living with his wife and 22 year-old, American born daughter, Emma. His occupation is listed as “Photographer”. Herman Gabriel is cited in the American Photographer (1916) for winning second place in a photography competition. This Cabinet Card portrait is in very good condition and has excellent clarity (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a young boy dressed in winter clothing and holding a cane. Note his cute warm cap. He is posed in front of a wooden bench. He is a cutie and the image has great clarity. (SOLD)

A lovely young couple pose with their baby and their dog in a family portrait photograph. It is not clear whether the photo was taken outdoors, or in a photo studio. Writing on the reverse of the postcard indicates that the message was written in 1913. The postcard was sent to someone in Paris, France. SOLD

This vintage real photo postcard features an exotic looking mother posing with her baby. The child is sitting on the highest high chair that I have ever seen. Using an elevated chair is very smart. The chair puts the child at the mother’s level and makes for a better posed photograph. I have not seen this photographic strategy employed before. The mother has very short hair and a serious expression. She is wearing a stylish collar pin and necklace. Note her fashionable boots. A stamp on the reverse of the postcard reveals that the photographer was “Pornet” and his/her studio was in Roanne, France. Roanne is a town in central France and is located 90 km northwest of Lyon. This vintage photo postcard is in very good condition (see scans). (SOLD)

This vintage photograph features an adorable little girl holding a teddy bear. She is wearing a large bow in her hair. The child is looking at the photographer but clearly not feeling especially comfortable. The photo measures about 3 3/8″ x 5″ and is in excellent condition. (SOLD)

This Carte de Visite portrait features an adorable little boy. He is dressed in a very cute outfit for his day at the photo studio. Note his wonderful hat. He is standing next to a table holding an open book. Having viewed thousands of cdv’s and cabinet cards, it is clear that books are among the favorite props used by photographers during that era. The photographer who took this cdv photograph is from the Ph. & E. Link studio, which was located in Zurich, Switzerland. Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. This carte de visite photo is in very good condition.

This vintage real photo postcard features five adorable uniformed boy and girl scouts sitting in a row on an unidentified beach. These children are enjoying life. Nothing like the innocence of youth. These kids offer good examples of “wind-swept hair”. This real photo postcard portrait is in very good condition (see scans).

Four adorable school girls are captured by an amateur photographer in Agen, France. The girls are carrying their school books and they appear to be quite happy. In the background, it is evident that the sidewalk is filled with pedestrians. An inscription on the reverse of the snap shot indicates that this photo was taken in 1945. It is interesting to note that World War II ended in 1945, no more than a year before this photograph was shot. Agen is located in southwestern France and is beside the Garonne River. The city is 85 miles southeast of Bordeaux. This photo measures about 3 1/2″ x 2 5/8″ and is in excellent condition. SOLD
